Our Passport Program mission is to ensure coordination between the two institutions in regard to the transfer of credits, student services, needs assessment, and marketing. We configure programs and support mechanisms to facilitate seamless travel for you to move between the two institutions.

To put it simply, we help you make the smoothest transition possible from Ivy Tech to IUPUI.
Our history: Thirty years of partnership
In February 1990, IUPUI and Ivy Tech Vocational College (now known as Ivy Tech Community College) executed our first Memorandum of Agreement to support student success. In 1998, we coined the term “Passport,” and the Passport Program launched as a jointly funded office between Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis service area (ITISA) and IUPUI. ITISA includes the following Ivy Tech campuses:
- Indianapolis
- Lawrence
- Avon/Plainfield
- Boone County
As the name implies, Passport facilitates travel – for Ivy Tech students to IUPUI and much more.
10%of IUPUI undergraduates are Ivy Tech transfer students.
45%Of new first-time Ivy Tech transfer students are from underrepresented populations.
The Passport impact
Passport services are vital to the success of IUPUI and Ivy Tech Indianapolis transfer students. Our partnership with Ivy Tech enables you to take classes at both institutions via the financial aid consortium agreement. Although the Passport Program serves Ivy Tech’s Indianapolis Service region of approximately 19,000 students, Ivy Tech Community College is a unified statewide system that serves more than 170,000 students each year. Ivy Tech is the state’s largest postsecondary institution and the country’s largest single-accredited statewide community college system.
