IUPUI curriculum details

*The Women in Art course will transfer either directly as Herron’s Women in Art course or as HER- H203, a variable topics art history course at Herron, depending on IUPUI’s policy regarding transfer equivalency between 200- and 300-level courses. If the course transfers as HER-H203, students should not then take HER-H340 as an art history elective at Herron.

Students who chose to take fewer than 15 credits towards their major per semester are strongly encouraged to pursue a minor.

Consult IUPUI degree maps and/or iGPS for actual semester offerings. Many courses are offered only once per year.

Additional requirements: Portfolio required for admission to Herron BFA degree programs. Mid-level portfolio review required during the junior year. Senior thesis or capstone that includes exhibition is required in the senior year, typically within a studio course in the major area.

Notes: BFA requires 125 credits, of which 76 must be studio course credits, of which 30 must be in the major. Actual remaining requirements for studio electives and major studio courses will depend on the student’s choices of studio electives at Ivy Tech and whether those courses fall into the major or studio elective category for the student’s BFA major at Herron.

Students must submit a complete application for admission to Herron School of Art and Design. This includes an admission portfolio.
